Golden Tie Contest Winner: Fuget Sudo

Jun 26, 2011   //   by  vjj68   //   Announcements, Contests, Vinewood Week  //  4 Comments

The polls are closed, the results are in. We hereby announce Fuget Sudo as the winner of last week’s VW Golden Tie Contest. He is the first director to be awarded the Vinewood Week Golden Tie.

The result, gaining 42% of the votes, doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, considering Fuget Sudo has won prizes for his directing work before. We congratulate him for this achievement and are looking forward to featuring his future work in eager anticipation.

The winner of the community (non-director) award of the Silver Bow Tie will be announced within the next couple of days. We want to thank all the people participating in this poll, commenting on the videos and getting the word out.

Vinewood Week: Recap + Contest

Jun 19, 2011   //   by  vjj68   //   Announcements, Contests, HD, Videos, Vinewood Week  //  2 Comments

What a beautiful week. We laughed, we cried, we came. 7 tantalizing days, 7 talented directors—but only one can win.

For Directors: The Golden Tie

Obviously, last week was one epic win for humanity. Nevertheless, Vinewood wouldn’t be a legitimate movie festival, if there weren’t any prizes to win. Hence we proudly announce that we will be awarding a Golden Tie to one of the directors you have seen in the last few weeks. And just for the record: No, the tie is not actually made out of real gold. But it is made out of real fabric—so you’ll actually be able to wear it! It’s just our way to show our appreciation of their talents. Besides, it’s the year 2011—who wants dust-attracting statuettes anyway.

For Voters: The Silver Bow Tie

The decision makers are you, the people. So vote and support your favorite director by getting the word out. (Or we will kill kittens again, seriously.) Additionally, by either re-tweeting, sharing or commenting on this contest (and participating in the poll) you are eligible to win the Silver Bow Tie give-away. Add a classy twist to your summer style. We truly appreciate your participation.

The entries and poll can be found below. Poll closes Sunday, June 26th at 12am, PST.

Vivec: Vinewood Week / Day 7

It is hard to believe but the last day of Vinewood week has arrived. To finish up this epic week of visual candy, we want to introduce you to another director you might not have heard of yet: Vivec. He can easily be called the master of the “handheld camera” effect—a characteristic of his directing style you will either hate or love. We definitely enjoy the visual aesthetics as much as the entertaining story line. Just like chewing the gum at the center of a lollipop, Vivec’s showreel is the perfect happy ending to a Vinewood movie. Not sure if that metaphor works, just watch the videos..

Fuget Sudo: Vinewood Week / Day 6

Jun 18, 2011   //   by  vjj68   //   Videos, Vinewood Week  //  2 Comments

Today’s Vinewood feature might not come as a surprise to you. Long-time vjj68 visitor Fuget Sudo excites us with regular comments on the website, but has gained critical acclaim with his directing work. He regurarly participates (and wins) prizes for his cinematic work. His story lines keep you sitting on the edge of your seat and he is capable of making a video creepy, sad and comical at the same time. Don’t try to look for a genre: Fuget Sudo is his own genre.

Phil Rice: Vinewood Week / Day 5

Jun 18, 2011   //   by  vjj68   //   HD, Videos, Vinewood Week  //  No Comments

There is nothing wrong about going to the movies to have an excuse to turn your brain off for a couple of hours. But sometimes, when I look down onto the people of Liberty City from my Algonquin flat, I can’t help but feeling that there must be more to life than the regular Vinewood glitz & glam flickering across my 46″ high definition plasma screen. For now, I am going to leave the philosophizing to the middle class. Nonetheless, I want to share the following video by Phil Rice with you, which touches you in a way your wife never could.
