Ben Buja: Vinewood Week / Day “4″
The following director doesn’t really need an introduction. He can be considered a legend in the stunting scene and goes by the name of Ben Buja. And though his name reminds me more of a name for a milkshake brand, he actually really is a badass. Here is our selection of his best work. Enjoy.
Post scriptum: Make sure to watch our personal favorite, “Stupid Drunken Balancing”. It’s nothing less than brilliant.
Mathieu Weschler: Vinewood / Day 3
Not only is Liberty City the self-declared center of the universe, it also happens to be a prime location for video shoots and directors of all sizes and styles have chosen the city that never sleeps as the stage for the stories they have to tell. Now, think about all the epic short movies you have seen (on vjj68 and elsewhere) in the past few months. Now, put everything you have ever seen into one movie of about 90 minutes. Yes, I said 90 minutes—one and a half hours. Find yourself with some free time and a bag of microwave popcorn? Then watch the following movie, called “The Trashmaster” by the French director Mathieu Weschler. This movie truly delivers the full Vinewood experience.
L.J. Carantan: Vinewood Week / Day 2
Sometimes, we all enjoy meaningful movies with intricate story lines and well-developed characters. Other times, we just want to see, nicely put, shit being blown up. The director we want to present you today goes by the name of L.J. Carantan, who takes action movies to a whole new level. Fast-paced cuts, a lot of explosions and collisions that defy the laws of gravity, are some of the reasons why his work is not only stunning-looking, but has also become very popular among action movie lovers. Get yourself some snacks, keep brain-activity at a vital minimum and enjoy the show. BOOM, headshot!
Chicagofarker: Vinewood Week / Day 1
It was last year when I was lucky enough to stumble across one of chicagofarker‘s first published videos: “Break the rules – DELUXE” (watch it here). And it was just that, “breaking the rules”, that made me fall in love with his directing style. The fast cuts, dazzling bright colors and vertigo zooms trigger a pleasant mixture of adrenaline rushes and nausea. Fortunately, over the course of the last few months he has stayed true to his avant-garde visual style. We proudly present to you, chicagofarker, and a selection of his best work.
Vinewood Week: The Introduction
If this is your first time to vjj68, welcome. You might also not be familiar with the Vinewood Week, which is a week entirely dedicated to the greatest video directors of our time. In contrast to previous Vinewood weeks we have decided to go more in depth, and dedicate each day of the week to one particular director. Just like Cannes, Vinewood Week is full of excitement, creativity and most importantly: glamour. You are invited to sit back and enjoy the cinematic pearls we have discovered for you.
